I'm gonna go straight to the point, so yeah cut the chit chat.
Arriving at KDU, wow private colleges are fancy. Always always always come earlier than when is expected to account for traffic jams, kesesatan, and to hilangkan all that gabra that comes with attending interviews.Attire
I wore a white kemeja, slacks, blazer and bawal. Honestly, in my point of view, what you wear doesn't matter. A lot of my friends who got in wore baju kurung to the interview, but if it makes you feel more confident, then go for it! I definitely liked wearing slacks more because pants and it made me feel more put together :)Morning session
After briefing and getting name tags, we headed to the computer lab to take the cambridge tests. A tip would be to revise before hand. Definitely go through the things that they email you about the tests and do some practice online. That helped me a lot. It wasn't hard hard but it wasn't easy either. Medium la and it's all in English huhu. More or less it was math and english questions and that was all.Break
Alhamdulillah Petronas provided our lunch :3 but takdelah selera sangat sebab dok memikirkan lepas ke tak test tadi ayoyo. At about 12, the name list was out. They displayed the names on the screen so you'd have to search for yours. If your name is there Congratulations! you've made it to the next stage! But if it isn't don't worry, have faith that something better is waiting for you!
The percentage of people who get to the next stage varies. I would estimate around 70% of us on our day got in.
What is important is that you study. Dont think that with SPM you'll have no problems dealing with the questions they are going to ask. Every test has it's requirements and it is best to get familiar with them before you answer. Even the girl who sat beside me, who got 9A+, didn't get to the next stage.
huhuhu i don't mean to scare anybody, I'm just emphasizing the importance of preparation. You have an almost 1,000,000 ringgit scholarship on the line. Don't mess it up!
Interview
Telekung Advice
Ah yes, the most dreadful moment has come. There are two sessions. 2-4pm and 4-6pm. For girls, and if your iv is at KDU, i recommend for you to bring telekung for zohor. Bawak yang atas je, kain tak payah. There are telekungs there tapi limited. If you dont want to wait for others to solat then bring your own. The timing was a little awkward in my opinion. We were given an article and the question, were assigned groups, went into this auditorium and then masuk waktu zohor. So, the preparation time included the time to solat. This is why it's best to bring your own telekung. + bring makeup to touchup and makeup wipes
Back to the interview
The topics vary from day to day; This means that the question I got on my day, wasn't the same with my friend's on the following day. But, some topics that you should read about is artificial intelligence, robots, reading, mesra (petronas' convenience store) and things to do with industrial rev 4.0.
When prep time was over, we made our way to the discussion rooms. My group consisted of 6 people, we introduced ourselves, and started the discussion. Be nice with your teammates. Don't put them on the spot and question their stance.( it wouldn't make you look smart, just plain rude) , but instead lift them up! If you are the first person to speak, Good! your ideas wouldn't be said by anyone else (bcos you're first), But don't fret if you go last. Evaluate what your teammates have said and add on to that (while providing your own ideas of course), I went last and it worked out pretty well ;)The panel will ask questions, so, be prepared for that.

From the points that we have made, the panel asked us to pick one and present it to them. We were given time, paper, and a whiteboard. It would help to bring a watch to keep track of time. After time was up, we presented our respective points, and there was more questions and answer and question and answer until we were done.
Remarks
I can say that the petronas interview was really fun! especially if you're into educational discussions because it comprised of only that! No specific personal questions and none of what are you going to contribute to the community None! But, this was for my year, not talking about years to come. In conclusion, i would describe the interview as- an educational discussion about current/ future event that will change the world. I had lots of fun and kept in contact with my group mates and 3 of us are now Petronas Scholars! including me! I am deeply grateful that I got to make so many friends along the way of becoming a petronas scholar, was given the privilege for a company to pay for my education overseas.
Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah Alhamdulillah
Till next time xoxo
